OPTIONAL HARDWARE
eDLB
The eDLB allows active load balancing in commercial buildings and their parking lots, both in locations with and without their own energy production, e.g., using PV panels. The main function is to prevent the main MCB from tripping due to one or more EV’s charging.
It consists of a set of three Rogowski coils that can conveniently be clipped around the incoming wires of your electrical installation. These coils are connected to an energy measurement device which will communicate with the charging station via a REST API.
Combined with the Enovates’ user app*, you can even decide to only charge when your PV-panels are generating enough electricity, or to limit the allowed charging based on total power consumption of the house instead of just setting a current limit (valid from firmware version 2.10 onwards).
*Please note that for specific grid types, limitations may apply
Product brief
Easy to install on every grid installation on DIN rail with split core coils
Real time bi-directional energy flow detection allowing for optimal energy monitoring
Obtain ultimate green e-mobility in combination with Enovates chargers
Minimize the grid usage to save on electricity costs
Application
Typical usage are public and semi-public parking lots that are equipped with charging hubs. The eDLB will in such case be connected to the master, who uses this as an input for load balancing within the charging hub.
The eDLB uses so-called Rogowski coils, mounted around the incoming lines in the electrical cabinet, to measure the total currents of the building. Compared to conventional CT’s (Current Transformers), these offer more flexibility when installing them around e.g. a busbar. These coils are connected to the energy measurement device, which is DIN rail mountable.
The communication between the charging station and the eDLB is done using a REST API and requires an ethernet cable connection between both. The ethernet cable can be plugged into the same switch where the satellite charging stations are connected onto.
The table below gives an overview of the possible combinations between grid type, charging station connection and whether only current limiting is possible (= protecting the main MCB from tripping) or if power limiting is possible as well (= optimizing energy usage).
Grid type = three phase STAR (WYE)
Charging station connection = single phase | Current Limit: Yes
Power limit: Yes |
